The library - resources centre

The departmental centre of documentation on Aubusson tapestry was created in 1981 along with the Museum of Aubusson tapestry. The resources centre within the Cité internationale de la tapisserie opens in the former library of the National School of Decorative Art with a new reading room.

The library of the Cité gathers documents from the former departmental centre of documentation and the library collections of the National School of Decorative Art library, each counting around 6,000 books (with only 400 duplicates). Besides books, the resources centre gives access to thousands of dossiers on artists or various subjects, with newspaper clippings, exhibition catalogues, posters, trade catalogues, invitation cards, etc. Artits' correspondences with the School are being digitised (with the support of La Poste Foundation).

The resources centre is open by appointment only. The documents can only be consulted for free on site (no loan). The centre proposes documentation research services. Requests about artists, tapestry or wokshop identification are accepted by mail or e-mail.
