Promote contemporary creation
The Contemporary Fund of the Cité internationale de la tapisserie, established by director Emmanuel Gérard and curators Bruno Ythier and Alice Bernadac with the support of the DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, has been enriched through various projects such as calls for creation, patronage commissions, the Carré d'Aubusson collection, delegated publishing, and project management assistance.
Presentation
Driven by a desire to renew the image of tapestry and attract a new audience, the Cité internationale de la tapisserie has implemented an active policy of contemporary creation. Through the various commissions it carries, it provides tailored support at every stage of creation, from the inception of concepts to the tangible realization of the works. It encourages and fosters the essential dialogue between artists, who bring a vision, and the workshops, who hold invaluable expertise.
The contemporary creation Fund of the Cité internationale de la tapisserie was established ten years ago by the decision of the elected officials of the Syndicat Mixte of the Cité internationale de la tapisserie, who are committed to the future of Aubusson tapestry, a craft inscribed on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of humanity list.
