6 centuries of history
Since the 15th century, Aubusson tapestry has established itself as an exceptional textile art, renowned for its refined designs and unique craftsmanship, recognised as part of the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. Initially inspired by medieval scenes, then by classical and modern compositions, it has evolved through collaborations with contemporary artists, thus perpetuating a centuries-old tradition of excellence.

The contemporary collection
The contemporary creation collection of the Cité internationale de la tapisserie was established ten years ago through the initiative of the elected officials of the Joint Syndicate of the Cité internationale de la tapisserie, who are committed to the future of Aubusson tapestry, a craft recognised as part of the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
