Project management assistance
Since its creation, the Cité internationale de la tapisserie has developed expertise in producing works of contemporary creation, thereby offering project management assistance aimed at artists, collectors, and public and private institutions.
Presentation
With more than forty contemporary works created since its establishment in 2010, the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie has developed true expertise in the preparation and monitoring of weaving projects. Since 2018, the Cité has offered to support weaving projects, whether public or private, providing assistance at all stages of creating an Aubusson tapestry. These projects can draw directly from the Cité’s collections (re-weaving a work from the Contemporary Fund or the ancient collections) as well as from external works. Several weaving projects led by local authorities, international institutions, public establishments, and collectors have already benefited from this service. This support can include help in selecting an appropriate design for the tapestry, assistance in drafting public tender documents for weaving, guidance in choosing a workshop, raising artists' awareness of the tapestry medium, support in estimating the cost of a weaving project, and overseeing the preparation and the weaving process itself.
The works
This was the case for the work by Mehryl Levisse L'homme est un oiseau comme les autres, a tapestry commissioned by the artist, for la Fée des bois whose re-weaving was commissioned by a private individual, or for the work by Pierre Didier La Pierre et le ruban.
Creation notebook
La Cité travaille également sur l'édition du carnet de création Intentions. Destiné aux artistes, designers, aux centres d'art et aux professionnels de l'art contemporain, il proposera une présentation du Fonds contemporain et une explication du déroulement du processus de création d'une tapisserie aujourd'hui.
